This statement discloses the privacy practices for BodhaGuru website (located at www.bodhaguru.com, m.bodhaguru.com), BodhaGuru Android applications that can be downloaded from various application marketplaces (like play.google.com, www.amazon.com/appstore, etc), BodhaGuru Windows8 applications that can be downloaded from Microsoft Windows Store and BodhaGuru iOS applications that can be downloaded from Apple App Store.

This Privacy Policy describes what information we gather from you, how we use that information, and what we do to protect it. By using the BodhaGuru Website or BodhaGuru application, you expressly consent to the information handling practices described in this policy. If you do not want information about you to be used in the manner set forth in this Privacy Policy, please do not use our Website or install our application. Questions regarding this statement should be directed to privacy@bodhaguru.com.

The information gathered by BodhaGuru primarily falls into following categories:

(1) Information voluntarily supplied by visitors to our website or users of our applications through optional newsletter registration or posting a comment or sharing on the social networking medium or buying products.

When you browse our Website or optionally share our content on the social media (like doing a facebook send or like, doing a twitter retweet, doing a youtube subscribe/comment, doing google+ +1), you may provide us what is generally called “personally identifiable” information (such as your name, email address, facebook user id, google+ user id, twitter user id or youtube user id). The information you supply help us to make BodhaGuru a better website by allowing us to tailor our site to your interests and make it more useful to you. Supplying such information is entirely voluntary, completely under YOUR control and our website NOR our applications implicitly NEVER extracts this information from anywhere.

When you optionally buy products on our website or through our any of our applications, you will be asked to provide certain information like billing and shipping details (name, address, phone number, email address etc). We require this information to ship the product to your location. During the buying process, you may enter the payment information (e.g. credit card details, net banking details) using the third party payment gateway provider EBS (https://secure.ebs.in). This payment information is securely and directly passed between your browser to the payment gateway and BodhaGuru does not participate in that data transmission or storage of this information. Information collected by third parties in this manner is subject to that third party’s own data collection, use, and disclosure policies.

In some instances, which involve, for example, optional email or postal newsletter subscription, you may need to provide all the information before the newsletter can reach you. We can’t deliver newsletter or notify you that you’ve been lucky enough to win a prize in a promotional contest if we don’t know how to contact you. If you do register with BodhaGuru for newsletters, we may, from time to time, contact you about new content and features that we believe may be of interest to you. Of course, even if you want to remain completely anonymous, you are still free to take advantage of the wealth of content available on our site without providing any personal information.
And, of course, any information you include in a posting to the discussion areas is available to anyone with Internet access.

(2) Tracking information gathered as visitors navigating through our BodhaGuru Website.

The web servers’ from which you browse our content or the marketplace servers’ from which you downloaded our application, automatically collect limited information about your computer’s connection to the Internet, including your IP address, when you visit our websites or use our application. (Your IP address is a number that lets computers attached to the Internet know where to send you data — such as the web pages you view.) Your IP address does not identify you personally. We use this information to deliver our web pages to you upon request, to tailor our websites and applications to the interests of our users, to measure traffic within our websites (using Google Analytics), download of our applications and let advertisers know the geographic locations from where our visitors come. BodhaGuru uses all of the information that you provide or that we collect from users to understand and analyze the usage trends and preferences of our users, to improve the way the Website or applications works and looks, and to create new features and functionality.

BodhaGuru website may include links to other websites whose privacy policies we do not control. Once you leave our servers (you can tell where you are by checking the URL in the location bar on your browser), use of any information you provide is governed by the privacy policy of the operator of the site you are visiting. That policy may differ from ours. If you can’t find the privacy policy of any of these sites via a link from the site’s homepage, you should contact the site directly for more information.

To help make our websites more responsive to the needs of our visitors, we invoke a standard feature of Google Analytics software, called a “cookie”, to assign each visitor a unique, random number (a sort of user ID) that resides on your computer. The cookie does not personally identify the visitor as an individual; rather, cookies merely identify the computer that a visitor uses to access our sites. Unless you voluntarily identify yourself, we will have no way of knowing who you are, even if we assign a cookie to your computer. We use cookies with help of Google Analytics software to help us tailor our sites to meet your needs, and to deliver a better service that is keyed to the interests of our visitors. We use cookies to determine what features our visitors prefer and which are less popular. We can build a better site if we know which pages our users are visiting and how often. And we use cookies to avoid showing you the same ad, repeatedly, during a single visit. If you do not want the benefit of cookies, there is a simple process to manually delete your cookies. Please consult your web browser’s Help documentation for more information on this process.

We also show third party content, such as advertising on our website or our Youtube free videos that uses “clear gifs,” “web beacons,” or other similar techniques, which allow the third party content provider (aka ad networks) to read and write cookies to your browser (e.g. if you click on their ads) or implement similar tracking mechanisms, in connection with your viewing of that third party content displayed on the Website or send advertisements (like billboard, banner ads etc) to the youtube flash player application. This information is collected directly by the third party ad networks, and BodhaGuru does not participate in that data transmission. Information collected by third parties in this manner is subject to that third party’s own data collection, use, and disclosure policies. When we present information to our advertisers — to help them understand our audience and confirm the value of advertising on our websites and application — it is usually in the form of aggregated statistics on traffic to various pages within our sites and applications.
